Target Group: Math & science teachers within William Allen HS
Rationale: Work within our sphere of influence to increase chances of success.
Incentive for Participation: Teachers value their time, so using protocols to share student work will replace reflections that teachers are currently required to write. The chance to share student work will address specific deficiencies identified in the School Culture Triage survey.
Method: During the first three in-service days of the school year, the math and science departments will use the Success Analysis Protocol to introduce the use protocols. The first Wednesday of the month from October to May groups of math and science teachers will meet to share student work using the Tuning Protocol. Before the meetings, group members will have a chance to prepare and consult with members of the Master Teacher team. The first group of presenters and facilitators for the October meetings will be chosen from the Keeping Learning on Track (KLT) teachers.
Evaluation: School Culture Triage survey was administered to establish a baseline. The survey indicated that teachers do not feel they are given time to communicate and share together. The survey will be re-administered to evaluate whether improvement has been made.
Performance Outcomes: Teachers collaborate and share successes and failures. Best practices are established and documented on a wikispace.
